The Development Volunteer Program (Usaka) has launched a crab farming training program in Ulubunia village, Mongla Thana, Bagerhat district, targeting 25 fishermen families. The initiative began today, involving one member from each of the 25 families, with the aim of enhancing their livelihoods and creating alternative income sources.
The training covers modern crab farming techniques, feed management, water quality control, and marketing strategies, delivered through detailed discussions and hands-on sessions. Local volunteers are supporting the smooth execution of this program.
A Usaka representative stated, “Crab farming holds great potential as an income source for fishermen families. This training aims to equip participants with skills to become self-reliant.”
One participant shared, “This training opens new opportunities for us. Learning crab farming gives us hope to improve our family’s financial condition.”
Usaka plans to provide necessary support for crab farming to participants upon successful completion of the training and intends to continue such developmental activities for underprivileged communities in the future.
