How Latif Master Foundation Is Transforming the Education Landscape of Bagerhat

A teacher from Mongla shared that before attending a training session in the district town, he never realized that enhancing students’ mental development and curiosity for learning could itself be developed as a “pedagogical skill.” He learned this and much more during a training program jointly organized by Latif Master Foundation and the Bagerhat District Council. Over two days, a total of 600 teachers participated in this initiative.

The core discussions of the workshop revolved around re-establishing teacher-student relationships, implementing student-centered learning models, applying assessment for learning, developing contextually relevant educational content, and exploring the use of artificial intelligence in education.

Prior to this training, the foundation also organized a “Career Foresight Session” for 100 students who achieved a Golden GPA-5 and their parents. Participants received data-driven guidance on higher education opportunities, scholarship strategies, and selecting skill-oriented courses.

According to CPA Rafiqul Islam Joglu, co-founder of Latif Master Foundation,

“We are committed to standing beside every talented student in Bagerhat to help shape a better future. We have already collected academic and financial information on over a hundred meritorious students — including their study preferences and areas of interest. Based on these insights, we will provide them with the specific support they need.”

Education researchers believe that such an integrated initiative will help establish an “Equity-and-Excellence” model in the education sector of Bagerhat.

Renowned academic and BUET professor Dr. Mohammad Kaykobad attended as one of the lead trainers. On the first day, he was joined by several distinguished scholars, including Dr. Nakib Mohammad Nasrullah, Vice-Chancellor of Islamic University; Professor Dr. Md. Shahidul Islam, Vice-Chancellor of Pirojpur University of Science and Technology; Professor Dr. Md. Matinur Rahman of Islamic University; Professor (Retd.) Farzana Alam of European University of Bangladesh; and Amrit Malongi, freelance journalist at Voice of America.

On the second day (August 11), trainers included Professor Md. Samiul Haque of Khulna University’s English Discipline; Professor Ahmed Bashir and Professor Dr. Tajin Aziz Chowdhury of Dhaka University’s English Department; CPA Md. Rafiqul Islam; and Bhaskar Debnath, Chief Executive Officer of the Bagerhat District Council.
